First, the era of Daryl Braithwaite live shows is officially over. Therefore, fans of the famous Australian singer are looking back at his amazing career. He announced his retirement on Tuesday, June 23, telling fans that physical struggles took the joy out of singing.

On Instagram, the singer called his choice a “difficult and sad decision.” However, I must challenge the sad tone of this news! Many blogs are acting like his retirement is a terrible tragedy. But, we must look at the real facts. The man is 77 years old, and he worked in the music industry for 58 long years!
Basic logic tells us that an older body cannot handle the extreme stress of endless tours and loud concerts. Because of this, we should not treat his retirement like a sad defeat. Instead, we must celebrate his massive victory. Most artists only last a few years in the fierce music business. Ultimately, fans need to stop expecting older stars to tour forever just to keep us entertained. Resting is the right choice.
Furthermore, Braithwaite leaves behind a huge pop legacy. For example, his band Sherbet had big international hits in the 1970s like “Howzat.” Later, he found massive solo success. His famous cover of “The Horses” is still a classic party song today. He is even in the ARIA Hall of Fame twice!
Similarly, the music business is always shifting as older legends step down and new, wilder acts take over. We saw this crazy shift recently when we covered the John Summit Travis Scott drama in Monaco.
In the end, we thank Daryl for his amazing 58-year run. He earned his rest! Let us know your favorite song of his in the comments below.
